Creating Your Style Of Wedding Dress

Wedding Dress Neckline

You should give careful thought to the style of neckline as this will create the attention to the bride’s upper body. The neckline can ether emphasise the upper body or downplay aspects of it, as the bride desires. Your bust, shoulders, neck and face are all affected by the cut of the wedding dress neckline.

A neckline that you find comfortable will give you confidence as well as comfort. If you consider the style of neckline that you would normally wear when going out, then similar should work for your wedding dress. Do you normally prefer V neck, rounded neck or halter neck when choosing a formal dress for dinner or formal occasion?

Halter neck – If you have great shoulders this neckline will work for you. Women with a large bust risk looking unbalanced in a halter neck.

High Round Neck – Those brides who don’t wish to show too much chest will be well catered for with this neckline. An ideal style for a woman with a smaller bust size.

Low Round Neck – A good generic neckline style which will suit most brides, sometimes called a scooped neck. This neckline style on a wedding dress won’t give any enhanced prominence to any particular feature and won’t detract from the bride’s pretty face.

Sweetheart Neck – Also referred to as a Queen Anne neckline. A heart shaped neckline just above the bust, ideal for those who wish to tastefully display a little cleavage on their wedding dress. For a more subtle appearance dressmakers sometimes sew in a mesh to veil the cleavage area.

Square neck – A neckline that comes across the front of the dress in a straight line between the shoulder straps. Another neckline style that will suit most brides, again with the possibility of a mesh being sew in to reduce the amount of chest showing.

V-neck – This style will draw the view towards the centre of the gown and down towards the dress. Ideal if you want to distract attention from a large bust.

Asymmetrical Neck – The neckline of the wedding dress has irregular shaping or a single strap. These are popular with designer dresses and those designed in line with current fashion trends.

Strapless – Not specifically a neckline, but a popular wedding dress design with many brides. A strapless wedding dress may be shaped (sweetheart style neckline) or may positioned straight across the bust. Suitable for most brides, but may prove less comfortable for those who do not wish to show too much of their shoulders, chest or arms.
