1. Which hair stylist will you choose? Make an appointment for consultations with more than one hairstylist well in advance of the wedding date. After speaking with a few of them, decide on the one you feel most comfortable with. You should feel comfortable with them, impressed by their previous work and be able to express you likes and dislikes without feeling awkward or uncomfortable. 2. Decide on the length of your hair for the wedding (you may need some time to allow your hair to grow to the desired length). Will you have short, shoulder length or long hair? Longer hair will give your stylist more scope for creativity with your wedding hairstyle, but most skilled stylists will be able to work with medium or shorter styles. Be sure to choose a length that fits with your personality, your wedding dress and that you can maintain throughout your honeymoon. 3. Have your hair compliment your wedding dress. This can be done by both style and accessories. Smooth, straight hair and pinned up curls are often paired up with smooth satin gowns, whereas a tulle dress often goes well with soft curls. 4. Take into consideration your silhouette. If it's along horizontal lines such as with a wide dress, you'll want to stick with that look for your hair as well. The same goes for a vertical profile. 5. Be prepared when you go along to the hairstylist to discuss your wedding hair style. Wash your hair the night before the consultation and take along with you any pictures of styles that you prefer. |

6. If you have one, take a picture of your wedding dress along with you when you go to discuss your requirements with the hairstylist. If you don’t have a picture, then give as much detail of your dress as possible. If you have already bought your veil, or head dress, take this along so the stylist can ensure that the headwear will fit comfortably on your chosen hairstyle. 7. If you are planning to have a new hairstyle or colour for the wedding, don’t wait until immediately before the wedding day to have this done. Start planning and making the changes well ahead of the date to avoid any possible unpleasant surprises that it would be too late to change. 8. When you have chosen the hairstyle for your wedding, make sure you have it done a sufficient time in advance, to allow you the opportunity to ‘walk around with it’. Your wedding day will be a long one and you don’t want an uncomfortable hair design causing irritation through the whole day. 9. The design and length of your veil will influence the choice of hairstyles available. In most cases the veil will be longer than the chosen hairstyle. It is important to ensure that the chosen hairstyle can hold the veil in place. 10. Decide is you’re going to accessorise the hairstyle. Extra sparkle can be added by pins, beads and flowers in your hair. Any accessories should compliment the rest of your jewellery.
